The You Are Not Alone Foundation is continuing its life-saving mission to bring French medical experts to Uzbekistan to treat at-risk children with congenital heart defects. Thanks to ongoing financial backing from Ms Tillyaeva’s non-profit, 145 children from mercy homes and low-income families in Uzbekistan have so far been treated by leading French doctors and undergone complex heart surgeries, including 21 operations which were carried out at the Nantes paediatric clinic in France.
The latest success story from this long-standing collaboration is the visit of French cardiac surgeon Olivier Baron. This was the specialist’s 18 th mission to Uzbekistan organised by You Are Not Alone, and from 22-28 November, 2023, he operated on 5 underprivileged children with congenital heart defects. A further 40 children were examined.
Working alongside a team of highly-qualified Uzbek specialists, Prof. Baron performed the operations at the EraMed Clinic. On this latest visit – his 18 th – to help Uzbek children, Prof. Baron took the time to share his expert experience in paediatric cardiac surgery and cardiac diagnostics with his Uzbek colleagues.
“This collaboration is possible thanks to Sen Yolg’iz Emassan (You Are Not Alone). The Foundation pays for treating children with heart defects and covers the cost of our team’s upkeep, too. These efforts are really making a tangible difference” said Professor Olivier Baron.
